H.E. Mr. Yao Jing, New Chinese Ambassador Pays a Courtesy Call to the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan

On October 22nd, 2015, H.E. Mr. Yao Jing, new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, paid a courtesy call to H.E. Mr. Hekmat Karzai, Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Ambassador Yao expressed his gratitude for the efforts and contribution made by the Afghan Foreign Ministry in promoting the development of China-Afghanistan Relations for a long time. He positively commented the current bilateral relations, and said that China would keep working closely with Afghan Foreign Ministry on the implementation of the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Ghani during their meeting last October in Beijing and the arrangements for high-level exchanges between the two countries in next phase, so as to push forward China-Afghanistan Strategic and Cooperative Partnership in a sound and pragmatic way.

Acting Foreign Minister Karzai extended warm welcome to Ambassador Yao for assuming his new post in Afghanistan, and said that Afghan leaders and government attached great importance to Afghanistan-China relations, appreciated China’s long-term disinterested assistance to Afghan political reconciliation and economic reconstruction, and looked forward to actively participating in “the Belt and Road” Initiative, so as to jointly promote peace, development and prosperity of the region.
