On Aug. 22, 2013, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Foreign Minister Ahmed Ali Karti of Sudan in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi said, the friendship between China and Sudan has grown even stronger as time goes by. Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, the two countries have always understood and trusted each other, and achieved fruitful results for practical cooperation in all fields. The Chinese government highly values the relations with Sudan and is willing to work with the Sudanese side to push forward China-Sudan friendly cooperative relations to a new high.

Karti said that it is the top priority of Sudan's foreign policy to develop the relations with China. He thanked China for the unselfish help for the Sudanese people. The Sudanese side is willing to work with China to push for all-dimensional, in-depth development of bilateral relations.

They as well exchanged views on the relations between Sudan and South Sudan.
